This exciting two-day event is held annually at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena in Waimea as a fundraiser to provide scholarships for school-age children of Parker Ranch employees. As the event celebrates its 34th year and all of Hawaii celebrates "The Year of the Paniolo," the rodeo is highly anticipated with loads of family-style fun.

FOURTH 2008 NA MEA HAWAI'I HULA KAHIKO PERFORMANCE
Place: Volcano Art Center, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Volcano, HI 96785, 967-8222
Date: 8/30/2008
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. - See traditional hula and chant performed outdoors on the hula platform overlooking Kilauea Crater, featuring Halau Ha'a Kea o Akala under the direction of kumu hula Paul Neves. In conjunction with "Aloha Festivals' Royal Court Investiture Ceremony at 12 noon at Halema'uma'u crater. Hawaiian crafts demonstrations at Volcano Art Center Gallery 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. Free (Park entrance fees apply).

 

Oahu

NA HULA FESTIVAL

Beginning in 1941, the City and County of Honolulu's NÄ? Hula Festival has celebrated the artistry and grace of Hawai'i's premiere dance form - Hula. The NÄ? Hula Festival is Hawai'i's longest running annual, noncompetitive hula event. This hula festival began as a means to provide a venue for the kumu hula of the Department of Parks and Recreation to hÅ?'ike their haumÄ?na. Currently, some of the kumu who participate in the hula festival teach in the parks, and some of the other kumu are from the community. Maui

MAUI ONION FESTIVAL

Whalers Village Fine Shops & Restaurants will host its signature event, the Maui Onion Festival, on Saturday, August 23, 2008. The 19th annual event will move from a two-day to one-day festival with an extended time frame of 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. The event is free. Event details will be posted online at
